Yadira Vargas: A Strength-Focused Coaching Approach
Yadira “Yaya” Vargas is a fitness and wellness coach who helps people pursue their health and performance goals through strength training and intuitive movement. Her approach blends purposeful exercise with the ability to adapt a session to your mood, energy, and daily demands.

Vargas began exercising in New York City after discovering a midtown Manhattan gym. Strength training changed how she approached fitness, so she took a job there and began developing the skills required to become a coach.
From General Exercise to Intentional Training
Vargas draws a clear distinction between working out and training. Working out can mean moving without a structured plan, while training follows deliberate programming and targets specific goals.
Her preferred activities are strength and athletic training, with the trap bar deadlift and Z press among her favorite exercises. For her, strength means feeling capable physically and mentally while pursuing the goals that matter in everyday life.
How Vargas Structures Her Routine
As a full-time coach, Vargas trains three times each week for sessions lasting about one to one and a half hours. She favors full-body workouts and describes her approach to nutrition as predictable, relying on a familiar mix of foods and cooking for her family.

Recovery also has a place in her routine. When a complete workout does not fit her schedule, she uses mobility exercises, foam rolling, and stretching. On days away from training, she sometimes takes classes to stay connected with her clients.
Simple Supplementation Choices
Vargas keeps her supplement routine uncomplicated. She uses a vanilla-flavored whey protein, collagen for joint support, and creatine to help maintain muscle mass and strength.
She also credits fitness education with helping her recognize how nutrition affected her results. Even when she does not feel enthusiastic about a workout, moving in some way tends to improve her mood and overall sense of well-being.
Advice for Starting a Fitness Journey
Her main recommendation for beginners is to identify your “why.” A clear reason for starting can make it easier to stay focused and committed when progress takes time.
- Start with a specific reason for exercising.
- Choose structured training rather than aimless movement.
- Adapt your routine to the time and energy available.
- Support consistency with nutrition, recovery, and manageable habits.
