Many people make the mistake of rushing through the movement to complete more reps. However, it is more beneficial to perform the exercise slowly and with control, focusing on the muscle contraction and relaxation.
Ensure you are pulling the band all the way back to your side and then releasing it fully. A common mistake is to only perform half reps which won't work the muscles as effectively.
