Glutes (Medius) exercises

Gluteus medius abducts the hip and keeps the pelvis level in a single-leg stance. Lateral band walks, side-lying abduction, and some single-leg hinges show up when it is the target. It is not the maximus; thrusting movements belong on the glutes hub. Searchers who want “side glutes” or “hip abductors” land here. The muscle is smaller and often underworked next to squats, which is why it has its own URL instead of being folded into legs. Equipment is frequently a band or cable, sometimes a machine. Cards still list synergists such as the TFL when the catalog recorded them. This page will not treat knee pain. It lists the abduction-pattern exercises stored for this muscle and links the parent legs group.
